My educated guess as an experienced Electrical and Computer Engineering professor / researcher is that the reboot process loadsĪll old values that existed before reboot (with some variation from what it does while coming out of sleep) and hence leads to the same problem. The one solution that worked for me is to switch off the system and start again and not try to solve the issue with rebooting. If this is not exactly what you need, please explain more so that I can help you better. Go to Start > Type "Device Manager" and hit enter > right click on your Keyboard driver that is not working > select properties > select driver tab > click on uninstall device > select "Delete the driver software for this device" and click OK > In Device Manager, on the Action menu, select Scan for hardware changes > Wait for it to scan and reinstall the driver then restart your pc and check if the issue still persists.

If roll back driver isn’t available or did not work, you can try uninstall the keyboard and mouse driver and scan for hardware changes (Ensure that the keyboard and mouse that is not working is connected): Go to Start > Type "Device Manager" and hit enter > right click on the keyboard driver that is not working > select properties > select driver tab > click roll back driver. Since this issue started occurring after a recent windows update, you can also try roll back driver:

Do you have another spare keyboard and mouse to connect to the PC? If you do, after connecting them, go to Start > Type "Device Manager" and hit enter > right click on the keyboard driver that is not working and select update driver > Click on "Search automatically for updated driver software" to ensure that you have the latest driver. It is not possible to try any solutions without at least a mouse. My name is Darren an Independent Consultant, I'm here to help you with your problem.
